A GEDP member since 1999, GIA has grown from a downtown agency into an independent insurance firm with offices in Galveston and Friendswood and more than 40 licensed professionals.

Davie Defense announced Bill Rebarick’s appointment as President, U.S. Operations, on September 8. His role covers daily leadership of Davie Defense and Gulf Copper as the company develops its shipbuilding work in Galveston and Port Arthur.

The training ship Lone Star State arrived at Texas A&M University at Galveston on September 8. The university’s new vessel gives the Texas A&M Maritime Academy facilities designed specifically for teaching and preparing future maritime professionals.

The Port of Galveston announced an agreement with Margaritaville at Sea on August 25, making it the port’s seventh cruise line. The agreement calls for weekly sailings from Cruise Terminal 28 beginning in October 2027.
